In short
- There is no account or sign-in. We don’t ask for your name, email or phone number.
- Your photos, calendar events, notes and countdowns stay on your iPhone.
- The free version shows ads from Google AdMob and its partners, such as Meta Audience Network. You decide whether apps may track you, and Premium subscribers see no ads.
- We use Google Firebase to understand how the app is used, measure ads and fix crashes.
- Apple handles payments. We never see your card or Apple ID details.
1. What the app handles
ThemeFit works without an account. Most of what you make in the app is created and stored on your iPhone. Information leaves your device in these cases, each explained below:
- when the app downloads wallpapers, templates, stickers and guide videos from our server;
- when a widget fetches weather for your approximate location, or iOS looks up a place name;
- when ads are requested and shown, and when the app records how it is used or why it crashed;
- when you buy or restore Premium, which goes through Apple.
Any server the app contacts receives your device’s IP address, as with every internet request.
2. Permissions and your iPhone
ThemeFit asks for a permission only when you use a feature that needs it. You can use the app without granting any of them; only that feature stops working. Change them at any time in Settings > ThemeFit.
| Permission | What it’s for | Where the data goes |
|---|---|---|
| Photos, add only | Saving the wallpapers you choose to your photo library. | Written to your Photos library. This permission can’t read your library. |
| Photos, read access | The Photo widget. The app picks some of your Favorite photos (or a few recent ones if you have none) and keeps resized copies so the widget can show them. Some styles show the date and place a photo was taken. | Resized copies, with each photo’s date and place, are stored in the app’s private storage on your iPhone, shared only with ThemeFit’s widgets. They are never uploaded to us. |
| Photo picker (no permission) | Adding your photos to a template in Make your own. | Edited on your iPhone. Your creations are saved on your iPhone and never uploaded. |
| Location, while using the app | The Weather widget, and the city name shown by some clock styles. | Approximate coordinates go to our weather provider, and to Apple to look up the city name (section 3). |
| Calendars, full access | The Calendar widget’s upcoming events. | Read on your iPhone only. Events are never uploaded or shared. |
| Tracking (App Tracking Transparency) | Letting our ad and measurement partners use your device’s advertising identifier (section 4). | If you allow it, the identifier is shared with the partners listed in section 8. If you don’t, it isn’t. |
Text you type into widgets, such as notes, countdown names and dates, and your widget settings are stored only on your iPhone.
3. Content, weather and places
- Content. Wallpapers, templates, stickers, backgrounds and guide videos are downloaded from our server. Requests carry only what’s needed to list content, such as a category. The server uses IP addresses briefly to limit abuse.
- Weather. The Weather widget sends coordinates rounded to about 1 km to our weather provider to get forecasts and air quality. No identifier is attached.
- Place names. To show a city name on some clock styles, and where a photo was taken on some Photo styles, iOS sends coordinates to Apple’s geocoding service. Apple’s privacy policy applies.
4. Advertising
The free version of ThemeFit shows ads so the app can stay free: full-screen ads (for example when you open the app or move between screens, and when you choose to watch an ad to unlock an item) and ads placed within screens. Ads are served by Google AdMob, which may fill them through partners such as Meta Audience Network.
To show ads, measure them and prevent fraud, these companies may collect:
- device and app information, such as model, iOS version, language and app version;
- your IP address and the approximate location it suggests;
- how you interact with ads, such as views and taps;
- your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA), only if you allow tracking.
Your choices. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, ThemeFit asks for your consent with Google’s consent form when you first open the app, before ads start. iOS then asks whether ThemeFit may track you. If you don’t allow tracking, ads aren’t personalized using your activity in other companies’ apps and websites, though they may still be based on the app or your general location. Premium subscribers don’t see ads.
Learn how Google uses information from apps that use its services and read Meta’s Privacy Policy.
5. Analytics and crash reports
- Google Firebase Analytics records how the app is used, such as app opens and sessions, plus ad impressions and their revenue, purchases and restores, and your country. It uses an app-instance identifier, and the IDFA only if you allow tracking.
- Firebase Crashlytics sends a crash report when the app crashes: the technical state of the app and device at that moment, with a crash identifier.
We don’t assign you a user ID and don’t connect this information to your name, email or Apple ID.
6. Purchases
Premium is a subscription sold through the App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never receive your name, payment card or Apple ID. The app asks Apple whether your subscription is active so it can unlock Premium on your iPhone. Purchases and restores are recorded in Firebase Analytics, including the product, price and currency.
7. How we use information
- To run the app and its widgets: delivering content, weather and the features you use. Legal basis: providing the service you asked for.
- To show ads and measure them. Legal basis: your consent where the law requires it (for example personalized ads in the EEA and UK), and our legitimate interest in funding a free app.
- To understand usage, fix crashes and improve the app. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a reliable app, or your consent where required.
We don’t sell your personal information for money. Under some US state laws, letting ad and measurement partners collect data through the app can count as “sharing” for targeted advertising. You can stop it by not allowing tracking (section 12) or by subscribing to Premium.
8. Service providers
These companies receive information from the app as described above. Each handles it under its own privacy policy and the terms it agreed with us.
| Provider | Purpose | Privacy policy |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob | Ads and ad measurement | policies.google.com/privacy |
| Meta Audience Network | Ads, through AdMob | facebook.com/privacy/policy |
| Google Firebase | Analytics and crash reports | firebase.google.com/support/privacy |
| Apple | Payments, place names | apple.com/legal/privacy |
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and others.
9. International transfers
Our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where the law requires it, they use safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
10. Children
ThemeFit isn’t directed to children under 13, or under the minimum age for consent in your country, and its ads aren’t intended for children. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you think a child has sent us personal information, for example in a report, email us and we’ll delete it.
11. How long data is kept
- Data on your iPhone, including widget photo copies, creations, notes, countdowns, settings and items unlocked with ads, is deleted when you delete the app.
- Wallpapers you saved stay in Photos until you delete them there.
- Ad, analytics and measurement providers keep data according to their own policies.
12. Your choices and rights
- Permissions: Settings > ThemeFit.
- Tracking: Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking, where you can turn tracking off for ThemeFit or for all apps.
- Ad consent (EEA, UK, Switzerland): the consent form appears when you first open the app. To make a new choice, delete and reinstall the app, or email us.
- No ads: subscribe to Premium.
Depending on where you live, for example under the GDPR or US state privacy laws, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information, object to or restrict its use, withdraw consent and complain to a data protection authority. Because we don’t know who you are, tell us what you need and give details that help us find the data, such as the date of a report. For data held by our ad and analytics providers, we’ll pass on your request where we can.
13. Security
The app connects to servers over encrypted HTTPS, and data on your iPhone is protected by iOS. No system is perfectly secure, so we keep the data we handle to a minimum.
14. Changes to this policy
We’ll post any update on this page and change the effective date at the top. If a change affects how we use your information, we’ll update this page before the app version that makes the change is released.
